Volunteer Opportunities
When the need arises for volunteers, Polk County has the people that step up to the plate. There are over 100 volunteer organizations that are active in the county. Their benefactors are different but their mission is the same; to help those in need.
One of those volunteer groups is F.A.I.T.H, (Families and Individuals Thanking Heroes), a group of people who have loved ones in the armed forces. The group meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m. for pot luck dinner then they get busy boxing care packages to our military men and women across the world. The group sends out well over 100 boxes every month. formed to care for unwanted, abused or neglected horses. They provide care and foster homes for horses and other animals. With medical treatment, rehabilitation and some tender loving care, their horses are made available for adoption to forever homes. For more information about Point Evergreen, Call 713-502-0709. S.P.C.A. of Polk County is another animal rescue organization serving Polk County. While they mainly care for dogs and cats, they too have fostered horses and other animals.
