Since Memorial Medical Center—Livingston opened its new facility in July 2000, the hospital has provided emergent and acute care to thousands of area residents.
The hospital specializes in critical access care with its 24/7 emergency room and diagnostic services, which includes MRI, CT, and X-Ray scanning. Additionally, the hospital has a fully integrated women’s center that offers obstetrics and gynecology care, plus digital mammography. The latest addition to its service line is a new Sleep Disorders Center, which is under the medical leadership of Dr. Robert Fayle, a board certified neurologist.
Currently, the hospital is home to more than 30 physicians who specialize in primary care, internal medicine, pediatrics, cardiology, infectious diseases, rheumatology and nephrology.
In 2007, the hospital opened two floors in its new bed tower. These floors are home to medical surgical rooms and a new intensive care unit. The 160,000-square-foot tower was designed by local physicians and nurses to be an active part of a patient’s healing process. With the capacity to open 200 additional patient rooms, a highly skilled medical staff, and a talented and knowledgeable group of nurses and technicians, Memorial Medical Center—Livingston is a premiere hospital located in one of the fastest growing retirement communities in Texas.
Recently, Memorial Medical Center—Livingston officially opened one of the first roof gardens housed at health care facilities in Texas. The 2,023 square foot garden is home to towering palm trees, tropical plants and green synthetic grass. Made possible by The Pedigo family of Livingston, Jessie Patino of Tropical Gardens and Memorial Health System of East Texas, the garden will serve as a quiet “get away” for patients and guests wanting to soak up the sun while reading a good book or just relaxing on one of the many park benches with family and friends.
New Roof Garden at Memorial Hospital Livingston
According to David LeMonte, Administrator for Memorial Medical Center—Livingston, the garden was created as part of the hospital’s “Growing for Your Future Campaign” in 2006. As part of that capital fund raiser the hospital presented various sponsorship programs to the community, one being the concept of a roof garden. The Pedigo Family donated funds for the project in memory of Gloria Pedigo, Cheri Pedigo Wheeland and in honor of Joe and Rogene Pedigo. The family wanted to provide a quite, tranquil place for patients, family members and employees to sit and relax.
The medical center also includes a new multi-million dollar Medical Arts Pavilion located adjacent to the hospital as well as other medical facilities like DaVita Dialysis and The Center For Sight. The hospital continues its aggressive physician recruitment efforts to meet the needs of Polk and the surrounding counties.
Memorial Medical Center—Livingston Volunteer Auxiliary is actively involved in their mission to serve the medical community. They have also donated a new $3,500 PeopleAlert paging system to the hospital for patients registering for services and families waiting on loved ones during surgical procedures. Currently there are approximately forty-two volunteers serving Memorial Medical Center – Livingston.
"Urgent Doc" has also opened a new facility in Livingston. They have the experience to care for urgent needs as well as provide a variety of regular health screening and physicals. Their services include X-Rays, and minor injuries and other minor emergency situations. Additionally, Polk County is home to many physicians in independent general and specialty practice.
