Location, Location, Location!
Polk County is located in the East Texas area and conveniently accessed by Hwy 190 East and West, Hwy 59 North and South, Hwy 146 North and South and Hwy 287 East and West. Polk County is easily accessible, via Hwy 59 South, to Houston, the 4th largest city in the nation.
Highway 59 is currently begin upgraded to become Interstate 69. It is a planned 1,600-mile national highway serving the United States between the borders of Mexico and Canada. Eight states are involved in the project. In Texas, the proposed I-69 study area extends from Texarkana/Shreveport to Mexico. U.S. Hwy 59 (north/south) will be widened to meet Interstate specifications. In the majority of the areas, there is plenty of room in the medians or other portions of the right-of-way to accommodate the changes. There is also a feasibility study along U.S. Hwy 190 (east/west) to determine the best methods for handling growing traffic flow. I-69 is expected to increase economic activity and estimated to spawn more than 40,000 new jobs by 2025, resulting in $12.8 billion in additional wages and $24 billion in added value.
