Lake Livingston is one of Polk County's greatest assets.  One of the favorite aspects of the lake is the many kinds of fish available.  And who doesn't love to fish, or at least tell a story about the one that got away~
Fish Stories?  We're full of 'em!
Known for its wide variety of fish, Lake Livingston is especially noted for it's catfish and white bass. Some records include over 100 pound catfish.

Lake Livingston is the second largest lake in Texas.   Completed in 1969, it covers approximately 83,000 acres and its  more than 450 feet of shores touch the counties of Polk, San Jacinto, Walker and Trinity.  The average depth of the lake is 23 feet with a maximum depth of 90 feet.  Some of the species you might find in Lake Livingston include: Black Crappie, Blue Catfish (the dominate catfish species), Channel Catfish, Flathead Catfish, Hybrid Striped Bass, Largemouth Bass, Red Ear Sunfish, Striped Bass, White Bass and White Crappie.

The most used bait includes:

Crappie:  Minnows
White Bass:  Minnows
Sunfish:  Worms or Crickets
Black Bass:  Worms
Catfish:  Worms or Stinkbait
