Lake Livingston is one of Polk County's greatest assets.  A favorite feature of the lake is the various  types of fish you will catch.  And who doesn't love to fish, or at least tell a story about the one that got away~
Fish Stories?  We're full of 'em!
Known for its wide variety of fish, Lake Livingston is especially noted for it's catfish and white bass. Some records show 100-pound catfish which have been caught.

Lake Livingston is the second largest lake in Texas.   Completed in 1969, it covers approximately 83,000 acres and has  more than 450 miles of shoreline between of Polk, San Jacinto, Walker, and Trinity Counties.  The average depth of the lake is 23 feet with a maximum depth of 90 feet.  Some of the species you might find in Lake Livingston include Black Crappie, Blue Catfish (the dominate catfish species), Channel Catfish, Flathead Catfish, Hybrid Striped Bass, Largemouth Bass, Red Ear Sunfish, Striped Bass, White Bass, and White Crappie.
